Frequently Asked Questions
Have questions? I have answers! If you are curious about things not mentioned, feel free to ask here. Feel free to request a thorough guide or explanation on anything DN!
What is the best class to start with? / Should I pick this class or this one?
Please see the Classes page for information on this. The "Classes" page will have basic information on the pros and cons of each class, as well as their general role and how good they are currently. Currently Shooting Star, Light Bringer, Lunar Knight, and Crusader are some of your best choices for 80 Cap. It seems common for players not to main the first character they try out,
Should or can I make a half-PvP, half-PvE build?
This depends on your class. Some classes will have similar PvP and PvE builds. For these classes, it is usually okay to make a hybrid build, but some classes (ex. Abyss Walker) have vastly different optimal PvE and PvP builds. See the Classes page for details on PvE and PvP build guides and their hybrid potential.
Should I get a pet to pick up loot?
Yes! Pets are very useful if you are not willing to pick up the little amounts of copper or silver on the ground. In the long run, they collect a fair amount of money for you. A free one is available at Lvl 60+ at the Treasure Dungeons in the Garden of Eternity or offered in some events. They can be revived infinitely with Pet Alicorns available from the Cash Shop or any Goddess Teardrop Shop (such as Honest Ed's; a 7 day Alicorn is available for 10 Teardrops). "Pet" has been changed to "Ally" in DN NA to avoid confusion, slavery claims, and/or child abuse claims on the Winnie ALLY (lol).
I can't level any higher. Now what?
Well, there's a lot to answer this question. I've made this little guide to get you started on your endgame adventures! See the Endgame Guide.
How can I get a costume without spending money?
Most costumes must be bought from the Cash Shop. However, there are some costumes / costume pieces available to buy with gold. These are Rare or Epic grade costumes that provide more stats than the ones from the Cash Shop. Certain sets can be created during a certain time period; only one set is available to be created at a time. For DN NA, the old sets were the Poker set, the T'kala set, and the Rocker set. The current set available is the Maid set. Able to be sold on the market, these costume pieces can be sold from 2k to 6k a piece. A full set is often worth about 20k gold. So far, one Rare costume set - the Velskud set - has been available at the Dragon Vault.
How do I get a mount?
Aside from the ugly horse mount (Brownie Joker or Mocha Sugar) from your main quest at lvl 14, mounts can be obtained in the game. Other horses (Ebony Thunder, Snow Breeze, and Arc Bloodshot) can be obtained by collecting 6 Equine Badges from Apocalypse Nest Hell (Snow Breeze) and Manticore Nest Hell (Ebony Thunder) and Archbishop Nest Hell (Arc Bloodshot). At the treasure dungeons at lvl 60+, you can obtain a 30-day or permanent Jueying horse or Brown Dire Wolf mount form the treasure box if you get lucky. At lvl 80, your reward box will also offer a 30-day Alpaca mount. Some events for DN NA, usually holiday events such as Christmas and Halloween, will offer a mount as a log in reward for logging in for the duration of the event. Other than these, you will have to pay to get a mount. Limited mounts (dragons, foxes, clouds, etc) are from Dragon Eggs available in the Cash Shop, but the drop rate is fairly low. Mounts, like most NX items, are not tradeable in DN NA.
What are Scales? How do I get them? What can they buy?
Scales are much like NX credit. Like a gift card, you can buy various items from the Cash Shop, but with certain limits. They cannot buy discounted items, including current Magic grade costume sets, and you cannot gift with Scales. They are rewards for some events, but are not very common. They are often rewards for NX-buying events or some sort of compensation.
I see a lot of blue world birds that say that they are S> NX. Is it okay to buy some?
Selling and / or buying NX with gold is NOT permitted by Nexon's TOS. The penalty for getting caught is the removal of gold from the buyer and seller's accounts, and likely a ban. Many people buy NX regardless, without being caught or scammed, by dealing with good sellers (still not permitted by TOS, though).

DN and Other Games
DN is a unique Action MMORPG, and actually differs from many typical Role-Playing Games.
Servers
There is only one server for DN : Kalahan. This all-encompassing server contains several different channels you can visit at any time.
Realm
DN is not an open world game/sandbox, as many MMOs today are. It has instanced fields that contains separate dungeons for you to explore. These dungeons may have simple puzzles for you to solve.
Pets and Mounts
Your pets and mounts, unlike in most games, are not useful for battle. Your pets are for picking items up in dungeons and very slight stat boost, while your mounts primarily serve movement and aesthetic purposes in town or in fields, being unusable in dungeons. Mercenaries are available as a pet-like system wherein they follow you and attack for you, along with providing a few activate skills you can use.
Potions
Many RPG games expect you to rely on and stock up on health and mana potions. DN, however, does not. Instead of reliance on potions, DN expects you to work with your party and party composition to bring along an efficient healer for the content you face.
Reviving
Healers cannot revive you in DN. You are given 5 free revives per day, and you can buy extra revives. Your party members may choose to revive you with their own revives, but no skills are given this ability. Some nests or raids have a revive limit.
